Newt Signs Contract with Municipality of Corregidora in the State of Querétaro for Deployment of Self-Service Kiosks

February 16, 2021 – Toronto, Ontario – Newt Corporation (“Newt” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce the signing of a new customer agreement with the Municipality of Corregidora in the state of Querétaro, in Mexico.

Corregidora, with a population of over 140,000, is one of 18 municipalities in the Mexican state of Querétaro. Considered one of the richest municipalities in Mexico and Latin America by the United Nations, Corregidora is home to several multinational companies’ production facilities and factories.

This new agreement confirms the deployment of 12 self-service kiosks to be installed at different locations across the municipality, including shopping centers and municipal offices.

Thanks to the deployment of Newt Kiosks, residents of Corregidora will now have access to Newt’s ever-expanding portfolio of over 6,000 digital products and bill payment services, and 1,500 digital gift cards. Most importantly, kiosks will expedite and simplify all municipal service and tax payments in a contactless environment.

Sergio Maya Aleman, CEO of Latin America of Newt Corporation, stated: “Deployment of Newt kiosks in Corregidora has a double benefit: it not only simplifies municipal and bill payments for consumers, while providing a safe and contactless environment, but also dramatically reduces collection costs for the municipality.”

He added: “State Governments and Municipalities will become one of Newt’s main targets to introduce our Kiosks as a method of payment for local taxes and digital products and services. Unfortunately, thousands of residents in Mexico still have a hard time accessing bank and payment services. Our mission is to satisfy the needs of the population like no other company has done to this day.”

Diego Bravo, VP of Finance of Latin America of Newt Corporation, added: “Lack of infrastructure and budget funds makes it hard for many municipalities in Mexico to collect the much-needed revenue from utilities, at the same time making it difficult for final users to make their payments. Access to new technologies like Newt’s makes life simpler for everyone involved.”
